About the role

You will lead the curriculum team in review, development and implementation of curriculum within the national MD program with Schools in Sydney, Fremantle and Broome. You will also work closely with the Domain Heads and domain academic staff, as well as Assessment, Foundation and Clinical Years teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with the National Head of Medical Education and Innovation, Heads of Domains and Disciplines, Foundation Years and Clinical Years teams for the review, development and implementation of the curriculum to ensure the vertical and horizontal integration across all four years of the program.
  • Ensure that that there is constructive alignment of curriculum with assessment activities in the Foundation & Clinical years with all aspects of the curriculum.
  • Leading the curriculum team nationally including managing and supporting the academic team members in their duties; working with relevant administrative staff for effective curriculum delivery.
  • Coordinating curriculum team academic support to the teams to ensure that all small group facilitators, clinical teachers and other staff are current with contemporary educational practices and in the consistent delivery of the curriculum.
  • Consistent delivery of learning activities across the clinical years and clinical schools.
  • Supporting the governance of the learning and teaching functions, including being a member of the national MD Program academic governance committee, as well as relevant school academic committees.
  • Strengthening instructional design and the use of different modalities in the delivery of the curriculum, including the e-learning environment.
  • Overseeing the documentation and dissemination of national curriculum manuals.
  • Overseeing the implementation and maintenance of a contemporary curriculum management system.
  • Coordinating the curriculum team in ensuring appropriate delivery of lectures, and access for all students, including those in the clinical schools, to learning resources and learning platforms.
  • Working collaboratively with the National Head of Medical Education and Innovation, and National Head of Program Quality and Assessment in reviewing, and assessing.

Qualifications, skills & experience

Level C Senior Lecturer

You will play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities. You will have advanced qualifications and/or recognised significant experience in the relevant discipline area. You will also require a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing. In determining experience relative to qualifications, regard will be had to teaching experience, experience in research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contributions and/or technical achievement. Additionally, you will require a record of demonstrable scholarly and professional achievement in the relevant discipline area.

  • Possession of a medical degree registrable with AHPRA and one of a Fellowship qualification in Medicine, Health or Medical Education OR a PhD, and more than five years teaching at Masters level or higher in medical, health or professional practice or higher education sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, innovation and delivery in medical education.
  • Sustained contribution to the professional and personal development of other staff, evidenced through ongoing leadership in peer review and mentorship.
  • Leadership role in major educational initiatives and enhancements of teaching and learning activities at the school/division and University level.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to interact effectively with a range of academic, clinical, administrative and/or technical staff in a complex environment.
  • Well-developed organisational and management abilities.
  • Proficiency with technology, learning management systems and learning and teaching programs.
  • In determining experience relative to qualifications, regard is had to teaching experience, experience in research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contributions and/or contributions to technical achievement.

Level D Associate Professor

You will have the same skill base as a Level C Academic Employee. In addition, there is a requirement for academic excellence which may be evidenced by an outstanding contribution to teaching and/or research and/or the profession. You will be expected to make a significant contribution to all activities of the organisational unit or interdisciplinary area and play a significant role within their profession or discipline. You may be appointed in recognition of distinction in your disciplinary area.

  • Possession of a medical degree registrable with AHPRA and one of a Fellowship qualification in Medicine, Health or Medical Education OR a PhD, and more than five years teaching at Masters level or higher in medical, health or professional practice or higher education sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, innovation and delivery in medical education.
  • Sustained contribution to the professional and personal development of other staff, evidenced through ongoing leadership in peer review and mentorship.
  • Leadership role in major educational initiatives and enhancements of teaching and learning activities at the school/division and University level.

  • High level organisational and management abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency with technology, learning management systems and learning and teaching programs.
